Thought I would post a follow-up on Pixel 7 cases after daily carry for 1 month.
RhinoShield - Assessment: Simply too slippery and oddly the case seems "noisy". Assume due to density of the material. Custom graphics are cool tho.
Mous - This is the best looking - classy. Also good protection, but it's pricey and after using for a month, the MagSafe simply isn't worth it. The magnets are barely strong enough to hold the case on a desk stand, so no way would it work as a car mount or with piggyback wallet. Expensive but classic looking. I have the leather version that's very attractive.
Caseology Athlex -Love love the non-slip texture and most protective (seemingly) of all I've tried, and only $17. This is my daily driver.
On the Pixel 6A, I also settled on the Athlex for grip, protection and style. Also tried an Urban Armor that was a good case but is very boring looking, not overly grippy and twice the price.
Previous posting in the Slim Case Pixel 7 thread below. Personally I prefer more screen lip for protection.
I've got 3 cases for the Pixel 7 (perhaps a bit excessive I know). I scored the Mous and RhinoShield on Black Friday sales at significant discounts or otherwise wouldn't have bought them. Note that I have not dropped the P7 so cannot vouch for 6 ft/10 ft drop protection claims and don't intend to test. None feel "think".
RhinoShield
Pros:
Extremely light weight
Customizable Graphics - I've got a custom and very cool bespoke alma mater graphic on it.
Excellent protection
Sufficient Screen Lip protection with glass screen protector
Cons:
Thought supported MagSafe when ordering based on how their website selector works. No magnets :-(
Extremely Slippery. More slippery than the bare phone.
Caseology Athlex -
Pros:
Grippy traction texture but still easy to get out of a pocket
Excellent screen lip protection and seemingly drop protection
$17 on Amazon Prime
Understated accents
Cons:
Bit Basic looking
Perhaps not as sleek as the the others
Mous
Pros:
MagSafe compatible - this is really really cool - has magnets in the case
Very Classy Leather (version I ordered)
Good screen Lip protection
Not slick, but not super grippy
Cons:
Pricey if not on sale
Could be grippier, but definitely comfortable
Could have more screen lip, but sufficient I think
In summary:
RhinoShield is super slippery. I won't use it for this reason. Also irritated that website somewhat implied it added MagSafe capability to the Pixel 7 (it doesn't) but might still roll out on game days given my cool graphic. If anyone has had luck roughing up or adding grip tape (I haven't) to a case would appreciate comments.
Mous is super classy, sleek and LOVE the MagSafe added to the P7
Athlex is the best daily use case - The traction texture and screen lip are very confidence inspiring. And it's by far the cheapest.
I checked out the dbrand case, but didn't think it had enough screen lip protection. If anyone has one, would love to hear assessment.
Mous w/ MagSafe might shelve the Athlex, or might continue using Athlex for daily driver and Mous as a "dress up" case.
