I love it so much, the only problems I face are quality of life ones (e.g. context google translate, flip to shhh, always on only in vertical state and so on).
It really liberates and educates user at the same time on how OS should be, on how permissions should be managed, and on how fucking much all those stupid apps dump into some databases somewhere owned by someone.
I would say the only other project of such scale and contribution to personal services transparency is firewalla.com, also worth every dollar I ever spent there.
What also changed the game for me is the Niagara Launcher, I think it's the biggest innovation since Springboard was "invented" by iphone, I was trying to flex and mod it my whole life since iphones jailbreaks and cydia and androids and it was always too little or too much. Either too freeform, or looking like dad's modded drifting BMW, only the owner likes it. Niagara brought me the convenience and innovation I needed for so long, I don't know how did they come up with such a style, but I'm so glad they did. My latest discovery is MT Capsule, which immitates Iphone island thing, but does it very delivately and actually useful, I love it, and I finally have the scroll to top shortcut I've been grieving from ios.
Now the only major downside of GOS is not the GOS itself, but the state of the industry. I recently bought Motorola Razr 60 Ultra (was actually triggered by Blackberry-loss Trauma, which was scratched by clicks.tech, but they failed so hard, can't tell) and Samsung Flip7, flip-phone is just such a delight to use and operate, the external screens, the thinness, the extreme quality of life features, the whole physical enjoyment of using the flip, the smalle footprint and design style of the cases. And I returned them with a bitter feeling, I disabled all the OEM shit, I hard-coded DNS and Wireshark via RethinkDNS and protonVPN, and still, every time I flipped every one of them - I understood that now not 1 company data collects, but more - Motorola, their CCP mother Lenovo, Google, and "undisclosed partners" stated in each of the EULAs. And it feels sad, that in modern AI-sloppy world and all the millions of hinge and flip and flexible display innovations, I'm still reserved to the slab of glass and metal which I honestly kinda hate by now. Yes, P10Pro is a great device, but it's not the perfect device for me. If I could load this on Razr 60 ultra - I would do it now after writing this message, but I can't. So I had this heart v. head situation, and with a heavy regret I understood that AI and data collection will only get worse every day in 2026 and forward, so I bought a Pixel 10 pro in weird Jade to entertain me (only available with 256 in EU though), slapped a fun case on it ((lol, always bordering with intergalactic cringe, of course, the Chinese company Suritch, which has a placeholder of a site) Surich and had to call it a day. Now I have a Google OS pixel 10 for work phone and GOS 10 Pro for personal phone. Oh well
