What is the best way to get a permanent phone number without using a SIM? If via Google then how to get anonymously?

Instead of getting a voip number, you get a real number from some service provider like tello and then port it to jmp.chat. in that way services like meta, google won't flag ur number as VoIP and block access.

K8y There's no such thing as 'anonymous' in today's world. It can only be 'private enough' for your threat model. As for jmp, as W1zardK1ng said, you could port your number there. They WILL ask you for basic info including your first and last name and they won't mind (I actually checked this) if you provide fake ones. Pay with Monero. Not sure, but maybe cash via traditional mail is also an option.

Though after some time that number will be updated from a "real" number to a VoIP number if I remember correctly? 🤔

Jmp warns about this, but I use them since public beta and never had an issue.

There are carrier lookup services that return the current carrier (which takes into account porting), so it's definitely detectable. You might be able to get away with it if you already created accounts with that phone number, but don't expect to be able to create new accounts with that number.

Agreed, and I'm eagerly waiting to find a service where it won't work, but in practice, to this day it works every time.

Jmp is good for a use case where your mantra is to avoid having a phone number. You just have to have it for things like doctors and government services, because there's not much choice as you want to be contacted and they just don't have any other means or process for that. In any other situation I just literally say "I don't use a phone number" while holding my pixel in my hand. If they have questions after that I say "I just use WhatsApp with data only sim". Funny enough one guy said "you need a phone number to use WhatsApp" and I just replied "I don't have that sim card for years". This strategy worked for me for years even before I got jmp. Never had an issue.

thmf Exactly waiting to see the same, I have two numbers with jmp, one is ported from tello which I use for WhatsApp, I have enabled passkeys hoping it bypasses the carrier check since it's doesn't have to send me a OTP for logging in, and this number still shows as from T-Mobile from one the carrier check website.
