I use WiFi and don't need mobile data most of the time, but i still need to have the ability to use a cell network at any time if i need it and physically removing the SIM is impractical (and impossible with an eSIM). I keep airplane mode enabled, but that doesn't seem to stop IMS connections from happening over WiFi and bypassing my VPN. From a cybersecurity/privacy perspective, how does disabling a SIM in the settings work? Does it eliminate the possibility of the SIM running any of it's code or communicating with the baseband?
