Signal, in app lock security?

Let's say i have i iPhone 16 with latest 26.2 ios. The phone is unlocked via face. But I want to keep my signal app behind a code. The signal has that in options. How safe is that. I don't want to put a big code on my iPhone. Just want to protect signal messages etc.

Quantum it's a mixed bag. OP is using Signal and iPhone, in which case as de0u commented, the Signal user forum would be more suitable and more helpful for the OP in regards to the App Lock question
