New to Graphene - Location issues / Banking

Hi all,

Slowly de-googlfying my life and loved how easy it was to setup GrapheneOS on pixel 9a I bought secondhand.

I'm about 90% there, with things mostly working but some small issues:

1) Having issues with apps like AMC (theatres) grabbing location, despite it having location access in app settings. As a workaround, I can use the website version , though it'd be nice to have working, if possible and secure.

2) I read the GrapheneOS article about banking, but also seems like some people had banking working for them. I use Wescom and Chase, and neither work. I can use the web version, however, I use Wescom for check deposits so it'd be nice to be able to get this to work.

3) I use Duolingo, but when I try to login, it says I already have an account and tries to use Google login service (despite the fact that I've changed my login email to an old hotmail account, using the web version). Seems that feature doesnt work, despite play services having access to the account. Not a huge deal, as web version also works here, but app is a bit cleaner.

Are you using a VPN? If so, have you tried it with the VPN off? My Regal Cinema app won't work at all if going through the VPN

Is exploit protection compatibility mode on in the app settings?

I do have google play services installed.

If I'm looking at the right section, in security settings -> exploit protection -> under App Exploit Protection:

Everything is off except secure app spawning.

snowber turn the app exploit protection compatibility on for the banking app, see if that helps

So my only thing right now is apps like AMC Theatres and Red Cross Blood Donations which can't seem to lock location even when it's turned on for the app (I also tried testing turning off exploit protection for AMC with no luck)

For the AMC app, I've tried giving play services location, disabled reroute location to OS, Enabled Network location to no avail

snowber Ah, I am testing in the AMC app now and see the issue. I don't have a solution offhand. Someone else may know better.

I will say, using the web app through your browser is usually considered more secure than installing an app, so if you don't mind the extra hassle then doing things how you are now is a perfectly safe option. Plenty of users here prefer this approach and use as few apps as possible.

otterfoghornrainfall Thank you. I don't mind it so much. I can do that for blood donation and AMC apps and it seems to work fine (the former of which I do every few months anyhow). Thanks!
