Vamscape from my research, to get more info about if a phone ever had history with Verizon, you can dial #7672. I didn't try it though so I don't know if that will work

Can you return it or have it swapped claiming that it's not actually factory unlocked (or whatever similar phase is used in your country) and/or suitable for your use? That works here from some vendors.

As in, you've seen it work on multiple carriers? Or what?

The only other thing that comes to mind would be to reflash the stock OS. I don't think that would do any good unless the phone has had an unusual history.

wizoatk The guy that sold it to me used it as an "office phone" for a few months after buying it. He used a different SIM card from a different carrier with it and it worked with both his one and my one. 2 separate carriers. Phone has to be unlocked.

You're almost certainly out of luck. Amazon listings for 'unlocked' phones generally mean carrier unlocked, but a phone must be both carrier and OEM unlocked. If the phone is OEM locked it cannot (as far as I have seen) be unlocked and thus cannot be flashed with Graphene OS

itsjpb I would confirm the above based on actual experience with Amazon Renewed devices. It is quite difficult to get an Amazon Renewed vendor answer if the phone is BOTH "carrier unlocked" AND OEM "unlockable". Even phones sold as "brand new, unlocked cell phones" by for instance Best Buy must have "developer mode" enabled first, and then (in Developer options), be ALSO "OEM-unlocked".

It is nor a bad gambit to find someone who wants a renewed 8 (some excellent prices available!) to buy an Amazon Renewed (it will invariably be "carrier unlocked"!), and then, if it is OEM-unlockable pay that person 10% over what he paid for minimal but quick profit. (Or, you might try convincing them a different colour would better match their eyes :)

Unfortunately, I agree. I just think that since it can't be OEM Unlocked even after trying so much stuff, it just isn't OEM Unlockable. Sorry.

What does Google's warranty-check web site say about the phone? Sometimes it provides information about a carrier.

Now I'm suspecting that it might actually be a Verizon device that was sold to a European retailer that then sells it to ordinary people. This is actually crazy. Unless all pixels have Verizon packages that aren't active in their firmware... I don't know.
