Anyone having trouble with speaker phone?

When I'm in a call and press speakerphone, it actually gets quieter, and the other person canrlt hear me as well, I can't find any settings for speaker phone, I have call volume maxed in settings

This sucks cause I often need to use speaker phone while I search up information on my phone on the internet, leaving it off speaker phone seems to be loud enough to hear away from my ear in quiet places, but unsure how well the other person can hear me

Running up to date on a pixel 9a, I havnt tried any other dialers than stock so far

Update I tested a call on Jami here are the results

Phone starts off loud enough I don't need to hold it to my face, the person can hear me and I can hear them with the phone a foot or so from my face

I press the speakerphone button in Jami and the person I'm talking to gets quieter, but they say they hear me just the same, I'm jot any quieter or louder

Novalissoide I believe so, I don't even know what option is speaker phone, I feel like the phone starts on speaker, and then when I press the button it goes to normal phone, but that didn't make sense its backwards

Gopher1 try this prior a call, bring out the full set of device sound controls at;
Settings > Sound and vibration

The slider would be labeled 'Call volume', and observe it's position.

Make a call, and during this call you should return to
Settings > Sound and vibration
and observe, is the 'Call volume'-slider set to the 'max' position or not?

Novalissoide yes I had the slider at the max, perhaps this is a bug when slider is at max

I moved the slider to be much more quiet, maybe 1/3 full, and its working as expected, phone starts quiet and when I press speaker phone it gets louder

Novalissoide Maybe? if you slide the call volume slider to the max it has bizarre property of the speaker phone being quieter then the normal phone and the normal phone kinda acting like a speaker phone itself (does it control mic volume too??)

but if the call volume isnt maxxed out it works as it should
