Do I really need Play Store for things to work?

All my apps were installed and updated using Aurora. Play Store don't even show any apps, nor does it offer the option to update. Is this normal behavior?

I wonder if I need to keep it for things to work, like install apps and getting notifications. I have revoked all permissions, including network, nothing is broken yet.

There are certain types of notifications that need it, and if you want to use apps on android auto you'll need to get them through Google play but it's already working for what you need without network access you can try deleting it!
