Finally a privacy focused swipe keyboard

Wanted to share as i assume others like me were missing swipe typing after moving to Graphene. Just noticed Clever keys on Fdroid. Fully local privacy focused swipe keyboard. Only just installed but looking good so far.

I don't use FDroid due to GOS' recommendation, but you can disable network access for any keyboard, essentially making it private.

While I haven't checked out the app, I'll note that its GitHub repo contains prebuilt apk files and a link to add it to Obtainium. Has potential but is arguably the most cluttered and user unfriendly layout ive ever seen which is saying a lot and with no instructions on a default setup

naibed I agree with the cluttered comment, there does appear to be lots of customization options. Are you aware of any other privacy respecting swipe keyboards?

just a head up that this is not a one to one replacement for other keyboards. it is basically vim in that they have defaults that are faster but require an upfront investment which is frustrating because the settings and the swipe functionality are best in class already without forcing buy in to a new way of typing

There are a handful, with FUTO keyboard, Florisboard, Heliboard, ...

CaptainPlanet Heliboard is the one I've been using. There is a closed-source swipe engine you can install alongside it, and some useful themes floating around to make it more visually appealing. Combined w/ Transcribro, it's been my daily driver for a few months. It has gotten better over time, but the predictive swipe is noticeably better in CleverKeys FYI

No swipe but I highly recommend that you try it.
