New Security (or lack thereof) Setting

There is now a setting that allows apps to turn wifi on and off. I'm quite sure this is new because I usually kept wifi off and set to automatically turn off after being disconnected for a short time. Google Play was one of the few apps that had the ability to turn my wifi on... Not good for privacy or security!

I also can't seem to find that setting that automatically shuts off wifi now. What changed? Why? How do I revert to the old settings that don't exist?

Just to clarify: Are you talking about Settings> Apps> Special App Access> WiFi control?

Novalissoide okay, the setting was still where I left it, but evidently the apps' ability to control wifi overrode my setting to automatically turn off after a set time.

I'm concerned that new settings like that can appear without any notice. I spent a lot of time going through my settings to make them how I wanted them.

Did you manage to find it? Settings> Security & privacy> Exploit protection> Turn off WiFi automatically. Set a time which fits your needs.

Novalissoide there were several apps that had wifi override access, including Google play services and app store. A few other privacy focused apps were there too.
