What is recover app?

I have an app in secondary user, I use very rarely and keep it disabled. Today I needed it, switched to that user and app is not launching, nothing happens when I press the icon. On home screen even long press only gives remove and unistall options. To get app info page have to long press from apps page, or from apps in settings. App info page is different, it has a button 'recover app' where normally is the archive button. Pressing recover app doesn't do anything.

i have not logged into this user for a couple months as usual and out of nowhere I get this problem. Anybody knows what it is and how can I normalize whatever was disrupted?

It's no secret app, I just dudnt want to focus on the app itself in case this event systematic and can happen to any app.

Reinstalling is an option in my case, but not always. Sometimes there is important data in the app itself, that is accessible through that app only. Reinstalling would erase that data, wouldn"t it?

I was sure that nothing from outside of the profile where app is installed can break it (beside hard reset).

Back to my op, from google support website i figured app has been automatically archived. If it's true, it has not been done properly. And not clear how could it be done without play store present at all?

how does the archiving feature work in gos?

I have not installed any google services, thus I can not adjust the archive feature since it's done from play store.

Onlyfun Reinstalling is an option in my case, but not always.

You should make it an always, backup data. If an app falls into a crashed bug state we usually can't fix that nor is it usually a GOS problem

raccoondad i strongly agree with importance of a proper backup, and recognize lack of proper backup feature to be the biggest drawback of gos so far.

That said, ther is no sign of app's failure in this case. There were crashes due to DCL restrictions, which I lifted to be able to run the app. App worked normally ever since.
