Check for update: nothing happen

Hi,
In System update (in Settings), if I clic on "Check for updates Tap to check for updates", nothing happen, is that normal?

Mark1769 You have likely disabled the notification channel for "Already up to date". You can check that in Settings app > System > System updates > Notification settings > Other

Thanks for asking, I've wondered about this also but never gave the unresponsive taps much thought since updates are timely and I haven't yet had any update glitches.

The notification works for me when re-enabled whether Developer options is enabled or not.

Use your Auditor app and verify your device.

i have it the same way, it was always like this afaik. if there is no update, nothing happens. it would start downloading immediately if there would be an update. its fine that way

FYI, if this is in regards to the 2025121700 release (or any new release), and your update channel is set to Stable, it doesn't matter how many times you tap the button, you will not receive the update until it is in the Stable channel. As of writing this, the latest Stable release is 2025121200

OP @Mark1769 hasn't provided what release they are on, if they have disabled system apps, or if the "Reboot to apply update" notification was dismissed. That would be a good starting point to understand the situation.

userofgos I use a Pixel 7 and just did the update to the last version 2025121701 as it install automatically after I received the notification to the need to Reboot my phone

Probably9857 oh shoot. I knew that was the case for Pixel 10, but forgot was the case for Pixel 7 as well (which appears to be what the op OPs uses)

Mark1769 I recommend going Settings > System > System updates
Require battery above warning level: ON
Require device to be charging: ON (since the P7 is a bit old)
Automatic reboot: OFF

Then have a look at the Notification settings from that same page.
On subcategory 'already up to date', if 'Silent': make sure it's not 'minimised'
