Sensitive content option

Hey,

Don’t know if this is relevant at all or not but I had a nice feature request that would be an option to sensitive content (similar to how it works on iOS) in the notifications settings

If we take Signal for example, with ”Show sensitive content”, it would show the contact profile picture, title of the notification and the content of it.

With it off, it just shows the signal icon and it just says ”Signal”, however it would be cool with an option, that limits the drift with the OS where you don’t see the sensitive content, but if I’d get a notification, I’d see the title of it and the icon / profile picture of it.

It would create less friction using the OS and unnecessary unlocks where potentially people can snoop at your password :)

wing is this what you want? Hide sensitive information on Lock screen?

Like exactly like that, but not showing the actual content of the notification, so only the image and the title of the notification, but not the actual content.

So instead of only having the vague description of which app it came from, like the Signal icon.

You would know who it is from, although not the notification content, like the contents of the message.

Which would increase privacy, while reducing friction and I'm guessing it's quite easy to implement :)

wing oh yes, that actually would be a little nice. I've never even considered that before, but that could be nice to see possibly.

wing You can do this already. Go to Signal -> Settings -> Notifications -> Show and select between Name and message, Name only, and No name and no message.

This would mean that your locked secured phone would in effect be like a breaking news runner at the bottom of a TV screen and display who you are interacting with and when and on what platform. priceless metadata, especially if your phone is on the desk of a 3 letter agency phone specialist.
if this was implemented I would want the ability to turn it off immediately or remove it.

thmf I mean yeah It's nice that it's on signal, however would be nice if it was applied to all the apps :)

I'd also suggest removing the "Settings > Display > Lockscreen > Notifications on Lockscreen > Toggle off Show Sensitive Content" all together, as that not only reveals the priceless metadata, but also the cleartext message.

That's why I'm thinking of a solution that would be balanced with convenience and security, while being optional and turned off by default, as I think it would appeal to many users.
