USB-C headphone changes?

I've just noticed (or just didn't realize until now) that if I plug in my usb-c headphones into my locked pixel they work after unlocking my device.

Idk if that was always the case, but I've always had to un- and replug my headphones for them to become recognized/usable. (I could be wrong tho)

Does that mean the phone transfers data after unlocking the device?
I'm a bit confused. Maybe some one can explain to me why it works that way (since there is no data transfer thing menu like with an "external drive" or phone).

Charge only USB setting by default, I guess.
But it is knda being present forever. Or for a very long time, at least.

posting_shanty well, i think it is an expected behavior for os to ignore data signal from type c headphones if “charge only” option is activated and currently engaged.

i’m not sure if it is actually intended but i’d expect it to work this way.

unfortunately, i have no usb c headphones to test actual behavior on my device.

I don't know if I said it clearly enough.
The default is charging only when locked.
I didn't change any usb-c settings.

But for testing purposes, I've changed to charging only.
USB-Headphones don't work with that setting.

I've always thought if I plug in an external device while the phone being locked, new devices don't get any data until I unlock the phone and reconnect the external device (eg headphones)

I found this on grapheneos own website:

... After locking, it blocks any new USB connections immediately ...

Currently if I lock my pixel, then plug in my USB-C headphones (blocks new USB devices / headphones, so I can't use or control stuff with them)

After that (headphones are still blocked) I unlock my pixel AND THEN without reconnecting my USB-C headphones, they work as intended.

Is that wanted?

I think and have assumed reconnecting was required.
It's probably just me. I think I simply misunderstood or misinterpreted it.

posting_shanty Perfectly normal. Since you did unlock, the system trust you with the phone, and that any plugged in external equipment, e.g, headphones, is safe to become active (again, since you authorized this by unlocking).

posting_shanty In other words; when you unlock correctly, you 'unlock' the attached headphones too. Prior to unlock, the headphones were ignored by the Charging only when locked-rule.
