P9 : Location does not work att all

Hello everyone,

No matter what I do, I can't access location (I tried on CoMaps and Organic Maps) and I don't even have the "location icon" at the top of the screen...

I've had problems with location on other profiles, so as the Owner, I tried enabling all the options (location, network location, geocoder, Wi-Fi search, BT search (even though I don't have Wi-Fi or BT nearby), SUPL, PSDS, and I even forced GNSS in the developer options), but nothing works (I waited about 30 minutes to get something, but nothing...).

Am I missing something? :-|

Anon101 Turn off developer options as a starting point. Turn off Bluetooth scanning, that's not needed. You don't need the geocoder for these apps but may want it for other things.

Are you using sandboxed Google Play or not using it? If you're not using it, turn off the Google Play fused location toggle in Organic Maps / CoMaps. If you are using it, you should be able to leave it as long as you haven't disabled the default-enabled location rerouting toggle in Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play.

I'm not using sandboxed Google Play and i'm not using the Google Play fused location toggle in Organic Maps / CoMaps.

I finally got location while going to a place with Wifi and also activated the "Wifi search".
But it's really strange i couldn't get location before... AND back to the place I was before, with no Wifi whatsoever : Still not able to get location working... :(

Seems that location only works when there is Wifi nearby O_o.

Same here. I noticed I couldn't access location since yesterday. Have been trying toggling on/off different options, but it didn't solve my problem.

I have also tried to test location on a new profile. With and without G-apps.

Everything worked perfectly before. I hadn't changed any location option until the problem appeared.

Anon101 Seems that location only works when there is Wifi nearby O_o.

Even standing outside for 3 minutes? It might be good to try an app like GPSTest to see whether/when it can get a position lock.

de0u I tried today and the first time, i spend far more than 3 minutes outsides (maybe 5-10min) before the location was acquired.
When i tried again outdoor, it was Ok in around 1 minute.
But inside, it's still NOK even after waiting for 10-20 min... I don't know why but... Ok...

I'll try in the next few days "while driving" and get back to you here ;-)

Anon101 It sounds like you may have disabled or blocked PSDS and SUPL such as through network request filtering blocking connections to our servers. GNSS (satellite-based location) will not work well without either PSDS or SUPL enabled, it needs at least PSDS to fetch the almanac databases to work properly. PSDS + network location enabled with SUPL off should work fine. The default is both PSDS and SUPL enabled. Blocking the connections will cause the same effect as having those off.
