random1112 the lack of a 3.5 port bothered me too, but I've accepted it. You'd get better audio quality with a dedicated DAC like the JM6 Pro over any internal processing anyways.

Edit: You also need to consider your audio source. If you're using YouTube or Spotify, you're probability not gonna notice a difference regardless of a direct connection or Bluetooth.

But most people don't use hardened OS like GrapheneOS. And I believe the people who choose to use GrapheneOS value the project's purpose.

A personal example - a long time ago, before moving to GrapheneOS, I used to store "stuff", like videos, pictures. Yes, my personal/camera ones, because I did not have enough space on the internal storage. Because it is more convenient when transferring and/or switching between devices. Because it is more convenient as a backup, etc.

I like SD cards cause you can pop a 250 or 500 gb card into a device that might only have a 120gb storage to store music and media like movies or tv shows

I think it's especially usefully for someone who dosnt want proprietary apps like Spotify or YouTube music, to be able to play everything from disk

Mind you the 2Tb SSD I just bought for my pi is smaller then a deck of cards and could theoretically be plugged into my phone in my pocket and I could listen to music off of that I guess if I really didn't want YouTube music installed (I just installed grapheneOS for the first time 5 minutes ago, I'm on this board trying to figure out how I want to set it up) but the thing is I think I'm going to set up a user profile for my Gmail and YouTube and YouTube music and bank apps

And a removable battery is based, as long as there's no secondary battery inside the phone, knowing the device is 100% dead when you click off the battery is good for people tryna sneak around town 😉

Moving to USB-C accessories instead of built-in microSD slot or battery is a step backward, enshittification typical for late capitalism (USB-C has a limited number of connection cycles, because it's a physical connector, it will wear down, using dongles will shorten this and will be an issue if the phone is in your pocket).

Having said that, GOS developers are not in a position to dictate anything, GOS is a niche product and it's hard enough to find an OEM willing to provide sufficient security features, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a GOS OEM phone with an SD slot.

NetRunner88 I only used Samsung SD cards and never had an issue, they have TBW values higher than many SSD drives.

Having said that, I do see the problem that while the storage of a Pixel is a known high-quality issue, you could get a cheap Chinese SD that will crap out on you the first chance it gets and put it in the hypothetical "OEM Pixel replacement with an SD slot". But hey, it's your data, if you wanna play the reliability lottery to save on SD costs, go you.

NetRunner88 And they are surprisingly easy to snap in half when inserting or removing. It helps to keep it in a reader of the kind that won't let the Sd protrude.

I use Samsung for raspberry pis and full size in digital cameras, I do not reuse them when they are full (speaking of thoses for the cam)
ASA you format them once or twice they are toasted
