Blank Screen After Update

My tablet just did a system update to build number 2025121201 and I now have a blank launcher screen. All my apps are still in the tray however.

I checked my other profiles and only one out of 4 has any icons on the launcher screen - this profile still has the original icons at the foot of the screen which I habitually remove from most profiles.

My 9a is currently downloading the update so I will see what occurs.

MotherShipton Flick up and see what apps are running, if there is something called "Desktop' close it and your apps should re apear.

MotherShipton swipe to the left and you should see all your apps. This update seems to have put all the apps on a separate screen, leaving you with a blank first screen. I also thought my phone was broken when I first saw this. You'll need to manually move all apps from your first screen to the blank one and then the middle one will delete.

I had not seen this before. It is there but hidden and only revealed when I hit the small icon on the right (circle with a folder symbol and a plus sign). I tried to close the desktop app by swiping it upwards, and from its own drop down menu, but this had no effect. The desktop app still appears in the same place and I have no icons on my screen.

MotherShipton Have you got Developer mode on? what you describe is being in desktop mode.
Silly question but have you tried to restart it?

Not in developer mode and yes, I've restarted a number of times.

Is there another way to close desktop mode? I cannot see in in the list of apps in Settings.

I do not believe this is a update issue, my Tablet is updated to 2025121200 stable and is working as normal.

In that case, how is desktop mode turned on or off? I cannot find the setting for this

MotherShipton Its in developer mode and i do not advise using developer mode atal. If as you say you have it off, you are defiantly not in desktop mode and my idea was wrong.
Other than that i do not know but have you tried swiping right as others have said?

Hang on a sec, so playing around with my Pixel Tablet on 2025121200 stable i see Desktop mode option to when swiping up (or pressing the circle symbol) there is a square symbol with a + symbol midway down on the right. if you press this you go in to desktop mode.
Dont think this anything to do with your problem but wanted to corrected my self as ive just noticed this and may have always been there before this update.
But can confirm i have widgets etc on my home screen and is not experiencing this problem you and others have. Only thing that may be different is i dont have any other profiles, just private space on mine

Yes, swiping right does indeed reveal my normal home screen as others have said.

It is definitely different since the update. Previously, swiping up to show the open apps, there would also be a 'Clear All' button. Now I don't see this button but I see the small icon for desktop mode.

Also I see a small pill button at the bottom of the screen (4 dots arranged in a square, one being a magnifying glass) which opens up the app tray. This is new to me as well.

MotherShipton swipe to your left shows clear all (or swiping with your finger from the left to the right to stop any confusion)

Must admit, I do enjoy finding new features. Still unsure if the desktop mode came on this update but for me I will find it really useful.
