Automatically switch off microphone/camera

The feature to switch off microphone and camera system wide is amazing. What would be even more amazing is the ability to automatically disable them after not being used, much like the same feature for WiFi and bluetooth. It sometimes is a hassle to turn them off manually when I won't use them, even though restricting mic/cam access permissions per app is also enough, just adds more peace of mind. What are your thoughts on this??

ac_ I have heard the gos devs say they prob won't implement this BC apps using it would likely keep it in use and thus the auto off wouldn't work reliably. Unless you go kill all those apps in which case the "while in use " would effectively stop the mic permission.

This would be a great idea. I can't say enough how great these features are and to have automatically switch off would make them even better.

I've wanted this for some time, too. And something like this for airplane mode as well, since I don't use a SIM.

One problem I can imagine is that sometimes (museum, nature, holiday, etc.) you want to take a picture or video every few minutes. In such situations it may be quite annoying if the camera/microphone turns off automatically.

Until the moment you get a call, and the microphone is disabled, and you have to go to the menu again and
enable it. Same with video calls. Redundant feature since you have "While in use" permission per app.
And whitelisting/turning on by demand specific apps doesn't make sense since it means it's not really off.

23Sha-ger if you get a call when the mic is off the system prompts you to turn it on. Its pretty simple actually. I leave mine off most of the time.

CalyxOS had this feature. Could set timer to off in 1 sec and upward on both mic and camera. Loved that feature and miss it in Graphen. But Graphen is now my favoritt either way;)

Wow.... great feature! Like the wifi and bluetooth.... after X seconds it blocks it... I say this because all my phones including graphene os has tapes on the cameras so, they are blocked anyway. I did this because in a recent attack in an IPhone the hacker have changed the image of the camera screen to off but it was turned on... and from now on, even with the luminous signal that appear in the top of the system i really cannot trust anymore... So... great feat! Congrats
