I would be wary of making myself an easy target that way, though. Out of curiosity, what use case do you see for private messaging here?

Well if you like taking risks you could always start flagging your own comments and write messages in the Other box. It is admittedly only one-way and you might risk getting banned if you misuse the function—but it's certainly private!
