Pixel 9 not always connecting to mobile network

When I leave the house, and thus the range of my home WiFi network, I expect my phone to automatically switch to mobile network. Sometimes this works perfectly, but sometimes it fails to connect to my mobile network, showing no reception (no bars and an exclamation point). If I then reboot the phone, it connects immediately, showing all bars reception.

This phone is less than two weeks old and this is my first time using GrapheneOS, so I'm thinking there might be a setting I missed somewhere.

What are some steps I could take to troubleshoot this?

Bti does switching to airplane mode and back also fix connection issue for you?

It feels like there was a bug like this 2 years ago, then it was fixed, then it was reintrodiced with this android 16 qpr1...

I do have the same issue since a couple of weeks on my Pixel 9 Fold. Data and calls are completely gone. Other noticable regressions that came at the same time are that sometimes the battery state cannot be read (shows a red questionmark in the status bar) and the switch between outer and inner display takes long, on the order of 2s. Sometimes the switch does not work at all and both displays remain black. Sleep/wake button does not help in that case, only power cycling.

This hasn't happened again since I opened this thread, so at this point I have to chalk it up to the provider being wonky. Maybe there was a tower out somewhere or so..
