hobbitus I am using RethinkDNS, and I have noticed that applications that should not be working would connect to the network.
On the other hand, quite often applications have to reload content, or web browsers have to reload the tabs already opened.
In Rethink v055u, we had increased the max buffer sizes for TCP (to 8MB) and UDP (to 512KB) after having seen significant positive results using it (in terms of bandwidth). It seems like these are a bit too much, and so, we'll publish v055v with more conservative sizes.
It could very well be that Rethink here is rather selfishly hoarding a bit too much of the RAM. Though, from what I know, a singular app shouldn't be able to allocate more than "large memory class" bytes (which depends on the total RAM on the device; for Pixel 6+, I imagine it'd be 512MB; in v055v, we'll show memory allocation units from the JVM, which is the UI & VPN service side, in About -> Stats -> General; in v055u, there's already a memory allocation breakdown from the network engine shown in there).
