This is a bit of a weird edge case; I'm hoping some of you have an idea for me. Verizon (yeah they suck; they're the only carrier with service at a property we own) charges $20/day when you're traveling internationally. I almost always just buy a local eSIM and use that instead. The problem is that Verizon charges you that money if the phone so much as registers on the network---even if you use no SMS, data, or phone, you get the charge.
Historically, my approach has been to restart my iPhone and not unlock the SIM. That way I can keep airplane mode off (so I can use the travel eSIM) but not get hit with VZW charges.
On my new P10PF, there's no way to proceed to the device unlock if I don't unlock the SIM. Does anyone have any ideas for how to keep that SIM completely inactive while I'm abroad? Obviously, I could just physically remove it (the Fold still has a physical slot for some reason), but I'd prefer to do it in software.
