I'll be traveling abroad in a few weeks, and plan -- or hope, at least -- to use an eSIM for the first time during the trip. I know I'll be dead tired when I arrive, and in poor shape for troubleshooting. I want to figure out what I think I need to know in advance.
I've read the usage instructions: (https://grapheneos.org/usage#esim-support) and several online threads, including (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/5863-esim-activation) and (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/17510-esim-questions), and am still confused.
1) In late 2025, do I need to install Google Play services via the App Store before installing a new eSIM, or does GrapheneOS take care of adding the necessary functionality automatically when I enable eSIM support under the Network & internet menu?
2) If the eSIM doesn't fire up when I'm abroad, is resetting the APNs one of the first troubleshooting steps I should try?
And finally: can anyone recommend an eSIM vendor? I've found plenty of reviews online, but also am interested in the experiences of GrapheneOS users.
