unable to use Thunderbird for hotmail or gmx - incoming server failed

Im unable to use Mozilla Thunderbird to access my hotmail / outlook account, despite the login process redirecting me to outlook to confirm the use of Thunderbird app accessing my account

What bettrr mail apps can I use so that I never have to waste my time with this terrible mozzila Thunderbird product? I've went from a big fan to a non supporter after the time I've wasted on this. I won't be donating to mozilla ever again.

I've tried tweaking all possible options fot password encryption

And also used

Server name: outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Username: full email address (name@outlook.com)

Also tried imap-mail.outlook.com for server name

For me, it is the opposite. I worked with Thunderbird for all my tech life. Desktop version on Win and Lin, K9 on mobile, and now Thunderbird on my Graphene-powered P6a.

P.S. I have some temp. GMX mailboxes attached to Thunderbird, and it works perfectly on the desktop and mobile versions of Thunderbird.

gta3 Have you checked to make sure imap (or pop, whichever you want to use) is turned on for each account (as that is usually disabled by default)? To do that, you'll need to login to the account on a browser, then go into the settings and enable a setting.

For Hotmail, there is detailed instructions on how to do that on support.microsoft.com, underneath the "Enable POP or IMAP access in Outlook.com" heading. For GMX, there's instructions on support.gmx.com.
