Hello everyone,
I recently got a new pixel 9a directly from a brick and mortar google store because I am interested in switching from an iPhone. I took it home and installed graphene OS via the webUSB method.
Since I got the phone a few days ago, I have had frequent kernel panics at what appear to be very random instances. They were most prevalent at first, when I was installing a lot of apps from the google play store, but I chalked it up to my impatiently queueing multiple app installations at once being too much for the phone. To stress-test it, shortly after, I took about an hour of video calls on signal and whatsapp, which only resulted in one crash between the two calls when I went back to install an additional app (first log).
The next day, I was streaming video on jellyfin, and while the stream was starting and I clicked through all of the necessary permission pop-up prompts, and within 30s of playing the video, there was another. When the phone rebooted and I was typing in my PIN to unlock, it happened a second time (second log). Then there were no issues for about 20-30 minutes, one more crash, and that was it for the day.
Today, it happened yet again while my phone was in my pocket and I wasn't actively using it (third log).
At this point, I figure that I am probably doing something wrong, but the logs are dense and difficult to interpret. I'll share a few here. They don't seem to have much of a common thread in what is causing them, but they all appear to be similar kernel-level software failure modes. I am trying to decide if I need to be patient for a new software patch, if I should suspect that the hardware is defective, or if I should go through the hassle of reimaging the phone and start fresh. Any guidance from experienced users would be appreciated.
