Unable to send emails with attachments in GMail

Configured the Thunderbird app (installed via play store) with the same mail account the gmail app is configured (google maill account), Thunderbird can send mails with attachments without any problems.

Also stuck on this, recently moved to GrapheneOS but still not ready to give up GApps.
Tried enabling Exploit Compatibility mode, rebooting phone, resending email, to no avail - the message is stuck in Outbox marked as "Queued"

Is everyone above with this issue using a VPN with GMail? Can anyone confirm the issue persists without one?

MetropleX I use an always on vpn connection setting that blocks internet if not on and have this problem with gmail attachments. I can confirm if I disable this setting and shut down the vpn the issue persists.

no VPN was involved in my wifes phone either.

I saw that there was a GrapheneOS Google Play services update including GMSCompatConfig, so perhaps that might fix it? For the time being i can not check any further since the smartphone is not in my reach the next days and week.

MetropleX Issue persists for me, I have not used a VPN at all. Gmail from play store and latest stable release of Graphene.

Messages with attachments still in outbox saying queued from 4 days ago.

The issue is with pretty much any Gmail version above 2025.09.29.812671317, VPN or not. Now, I have not tested the most recent one (say, in case one was released this week). But the last Gmail version that one could download from Play Store up until last week had this issue. As per Github recommendation, going to com.google.android.gm_2025.09.29.812671317 solved the issue. This version can be downloaded on apkmirror.com or Aurora with some version number *uckery.

I've been having the same issue, needless to say that I only realized after days or weeks that some of my emails didn't get through. I noticed this early november. Probably after some updates.

I reinstalled the app, cleared the cache, decouple sync on and off anb bunch of other obvious solutions. Nothing changed.

Thunderbird does work but it's a workaround.

That saying, I'm starting to like it though. Email is a simple thing, I don't want to use Google any more than absoluetly necessary.

Sorry for late response. Yes K9 works/was working for me when I posted. But I figured out K9 and Thunderbird are basically the same thing with different theme/icon. The teams combined into one team but keep both available.

I felt like Thunderbird seemed to be the more "standard"/ Popular option so switched to Thunder Bird...
"Probably does not matter at all".

ThunderBird is working for me.

CharlieMander thank you. I use it for wrapping an old Hotmail account, and keep it disabled until it is needed. For this it works without issues.

EDIT: sorry, it seems it doesn't anymore after updating the app with the 12-11 update and reverting back to 11-02...

JdawGraphene Delivering security patches, migrating servers off of French law enforcement's reach, etc is probably more urgent, unfortunately. They seem to have an always growing mountain of urgent issues to deal with.

JdawGraphene there plenty of other "urgent" things demanding the limited resources of the devs. we have known workarounds (e.g. use a different client) for now.

Let's take a deep breath. We'll survive.
