Call screening and the Google app

I notice that my Google Phone app now has call screening and some other previously stock pixel features enabled (or at least they're showing as a toggle now).

I don't currently have the pre-requisite of the Google app installed, but I do like the functionality of Call Screening. That and Gpay are my only real want to haves on GOS.

That being said, what is everyone's opinion on the opportunity cost (privacy or security wise) of "re-googling" to enable call screening?

Is this a vector to all calls being listened to, or is there a way to have my cake and eat it too by maybe disabling networking or scoping it? Afaik Gboard with networking disabled is a similar trade off mitigation that is well accepted.

I have finally sacrificed this feature and came over to graphene os. Which I understand that the point is to disallow all these various google interconnected apps to share my entire life including every word I type and every sound the device hears to some server somewhere. So Im just missing calls like crazy. This feature does help immensly on stock. It would be great if someone could figure it out indefinitely. I've spent at least a few hours tinkering with all the permissions.. downloading various components etc. Im surprised there is not a larger discussion about this.
