My best regards to GrapheneOS, and I sincerely hope that they will continue to be able to navigate the France situation well! :) The recent actions of the France state have been quite concerning
phone-company GrapheneOS users should feel confident! Confident that they are using an operating system that is not compromised by emotionality.
As it stands, I believe most GrapheneOS users, myself included, firmly ground their confidence and trust in the project’s proven technical merit. I also believe some members of the GrapheneOS community, myself included, view this “emotionality” as a strength in many areas; GrapheneOS uses its credible name in the privacy and security space to aggressively advocate.
I personally believe a more likely downside of this “emotionality” (rather than the project being somehow compromised) is that GrapheneOS’s writing style may come off to some as abrasive, alienating potential users who may have had misconceptions. This may lead to unnecessary confrontations that take more time away from GrapheneOS’s work, and it may lead to other people having a warped perception of GrapheneOS despite the project’s good intentions.
phone-company Perhaps GrapheneOS could find a press spokesperson?
GrapheneOS is a team, not a company. Thus, media training and PR pieces are out of scope in their opinion. Still, those are not required for communication that doesn’t tend to cause tension, so finding ways to effectively communicate while mitigating tension could be of value for GrapheneOS IMHO.
