NINA (German emergency information app) registration error

I've installed NINA (both via Aurora and from Play Store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.materna.bbk.mobile.app) on a Pixel 6a and a Pixel 8 Pro, both with GrapheneOS.

I don't care about the automatic location detection, but the app fails to start correctly on the Pixel 8 Pro. After the initial language setting, the app prompts the error "Fehler RF-01. Bei Ihrere Registrierung kam es zu einem Fehler. Bitte versuchen Sie es später erneut. Bei anhaltendem Problem melden Sie sich bitte bei nina (at) bbk.bund.de". The app then closes itself.

In contrast, the app runs fine on the Pixel 6a. I've compared the app settings and they seem to be identical.

I've tried a couple of times, as well as with the exploit compatibility mode enabled (not required on the pixel 6a)

Same error when running w/o Play Services (PS). Logfile complains about missing GoogleAPI or so.
I also got a popup immediately after starting that it won't run w/o PS.
Starts fine in private space with PS,

I think only P8 and onwards have morehardware protection.
There s also Network Warnig via CellBroadcast in Germany.

Yeah I assumed that the options differ somewhat between the P6a and the P8P, that's why I tested the app with and without compatibility mode on the P8P. Unfortunately that didn't resolve the error.
