cybershifter I'm asking why the functionality was removed, because it's present in the baseline Android which GrapheneOS is using as the base as well. It seems rather silly to remove a functionality that allows you to have MORE control.
It seems possible that a misunderstanding is in progress.
Google's stock OS for Pixel devices is derived from AOSP; it is not the same as AOSP. GrapheneOS, like Samsung's OS, is also derived from AOSP. AOSP is the "baseline Android"; Google's stock OS for Pixel devices is not the "baseline Android".
Just because Google's stock OS has a feature does not mean that Google contributed that feature to AOSP. Thus the absence of a feature that Google's stock OS has from GrapheneOS does not mean that the GrapheneOS developers removed the feature, are silly, etc.
The GrapheneOS project does remove a very small number of features from AOSP, such as pattern unlock.
