D_Webb That's ok, as long as there are people who do know how to check who are checking. If a large company is secretly exfiltrating user data from lots of devices, it will likely be discovered, and there will be reputational damage, also perhaps regulatory investigation and punishment.
Meanwhile, if some smaller device company makes grand privacy claims, those claims should be checked also! It's unwise to trust somebody just because they promise the moon and the stars.
