The Cape part has been working reliably. Its eSIM uses the same network as my physical SIM in the country I am in. And now for 2 days, the physical SIM is good to go. But again, I haven't rebooted it. Is there any way to see any logs to show the modem errors when the SIM won't connect? During those times, it will sometimes show the phone number attached to the SIM under the SIMs. So it is at least able to communicate with the network on some level. But it still can't make calls, send SMS, use data, etc.
Worst case, if it's the physical SIM slot, I can convert the physical to an eSIM and use both as eSIMs going forward.
