Call Screen on GrapheneOS

Has anyone managed to get Call Screen up and running on GrapheneOS? I have the option available and enabled on Google Dialer with AICore, Android System Intelligence and Speech Recognition and Synthesis from Google installed. Tried turning every permission on and mitigation off to no avail.

Heard that the feature can work on GrapheneOS per Linus's video, too. Searched online on that topic, including the forum, but either there were no follow ups or posts were simply outdated.

if you go into the AICore app infos, and then go to "additional settings in the app", you can enable "on device genAI features". This is what allowed me to make this work!

Did you have to do anything else like granting special permissions?

Beeeee Could you clarify where that setting is? If I go settings -> apps -> see all apps -> AICore -> Additional settings in the app, all I see is "Open source licenses"

ah, yes
i did have to grant the "phone" permission to the play services, but once the call screen stuff is set, i disabled it and i havent had a problem since

It seems to me like Call Screening is failing due to the phone app not having permission to record audio, not because of an AI processing issue. Did you confirm that call screen is actually working and not just nominally enabled? For me it just instantly passes the call back to me when I try to screen it.
