Life360 Tracking Getting Frozen?

I noticed lately that my avatar in Life360 goes gray after an hour-or so and stops updating my location for my family members. Sometimes it doesn't even say there's something wrong in the people list, my entry just says my name and "Moving".

Force-stopping the app and relaunching it fixes it temporarily. Something is happening get's bugging the tracking to stop and get stuck.

Life360 has all the permissions it needs: Location, Running in the background, Notifications. I even temporarily enabled exploit compatibility, to no avail.

I cannot tell if this is something on their end or perhaps an incompatibility with GrapheneOS. Asking here in case anybody else uses Life360 and are encountering this same issue?

Might be as simple as setting Unrestricted instead of the default Optimized for App battery usage for the Life360 app.

Yeah I'm having the exact same issue. My location just stops being updated

Owne I may have a workaround in the meantime: a Tasker Profile and Task that runs every 30min (if the display is off, so it doesn't bother you), kills Life360, and realunches it. Try it out and let me know if you still have issues.

Go to Settings > System > Developer Options and enable "Wireless Debugging"
Install the Tasker app from the Play Store or Aurora Store and grant it all the permissions and battery unrestriction it needs
Download my profile and task XMLs:

Open the Tasker app, tap and hold "Profiles" at the top and tap Import profile, select the profile XML you downloaded. Repeat for "Tasks"
Make sure the profile and task are enabled and that the Profile is pointing to the Task 👍🏻

wizoatk Unfortunately not, I already have it on Unrestricted. Unless it's happening widespread to standard Android users, I think it's some quirk with GrapheneOS.

de0u Play services has unrestricted battery. Does it need Location access too? Life360 is able to get my location fine when it starts up, though, it's only after running for a while that it stalls.

de0u I think that may have been the issue. I denied location access for Play Services a while ago, turned it back on and I haven't experienced the issue again yet.

Koruudo You shouldn't need to give Play services the Location permission if you have location rerouting enabled, which is the default. Check Settings > Apps > Sandboxed Google Play. The app may depend on network location, which you can use provided by GrapheneOS by turning on Network location and Wi-Fi scanning in location services combined with leaving location rerouting enabled to use the OS instead of Google Play for apps using the Google Play location API.

GrapheneOS Thanks for your clarification! Both Network location and Wi-Fi Scanning were off, I turned these on and revoked location access for Play services. Will report back if I experience the issue again :)

Koruudo Did that fix the issue? My Life360 just started having the same issue and I tried everything in this thread and its still broken

grvygnm It did for me, I haven't ran into it for months. I turned on Network location and Wi-Fi Scanning and made sure "Location" permissions were granted for Google Play services.

I may have reinstalled Life360 after those changes, too, I just can't remember.

Hi there, everyone.

I'm struggling with life360 to keep my avatar from going grey and failing to update. I've read the entire thread and I think I've done what each person suggested that got it working but mine is still going grey.

What am I missing? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
