Probably because a different file system is used

hicks yet exactly same app downloaded through my laptop and copy pasted to phone through usb will not launch it self and install.

Can you check the hash of the files to see if they are really the same app?
also what does app verifier say? can it open both

I'll try if I will know how to do that. But both APKs were downloaded with in minutes from each other from same official web site. BTW not toobmany APKs is possible to have downloaded thus days as every one send you straight to official Google store to obtain there software but as I say. The only differences was the way I got these files to Graphene OS internal folder either direct download through web browser , or get them copied via USB.

At this point I have no idea if USB transfer is not permitted on Graphene, or there is some settings that are switchable?

hicks Funny is to see same apk file that is now sitting in download folder that I had downloaded through web browser responding to taping and launching installation, yet exactly same app downloaded through my laptop and copy pasted to phone through usb will not launch it self and install.

can you please check under settings > Apps > special app access > install unknown apps and tell me if "files" or any other filemanager you are using is set to "allowed"?

Hey Guys.
Thank you for your interest in this matter. I put my Graphene phone on a side. But let's get back to it.

So I already went there just looking for something that will strike my eyes, but nothing there.
There's only couple of apps mentioned from few that might need permission to "install unknown apps" like internet browser, google app store or WhatsApp for example. But nothing about apk files that are placed in the Graphene OS internal folders through MTP/USB connection.

So I've run AppVerifier and all APKs pass and for already installed apps googles framework and play services filed checkup and are marked red.
I have everything updated and reinstalled yet same result.

Last update.
I've spent some time updating Google services and GrapheneOS it self and it works really fast and with no hiccups.
For last month of using Graphene I've come back to transferring bunch of files via PC and only APK files are not executable on Graphene phone. At this point I assume it is by design and I moved on.

Best regards to everyone working on this project and protecting ideals. Without them we're no one.
