MMS over WiFi download issues with Messaging app

Hi!
I have the latest version of Graphene on my Pixel 8. I'm running into issues where the Messaging app doesn't seem to want to download MMS messages with my carrier (Mint). This feature worked fine on my iPhone, so my gut suggests that this is an issue with GrapheneOS's config. Any thoughts on what to try?

I have Adaptive Connectivity enabled in Settings.

I'm not sure if you aware that MMS is a back door to regural android that allows for installation of remote access tool. I am fresh my self to Grapheneos but I wold skeep MMS entirely unless someone prooves me wrong.

@hicks: I wouldn't doubt there's a way to remotely exploit some functionality in a phone using MMS, but unless you can cite specific examples, the statement seems a bit FUD-ish.
My goal wasn't to enable MMS for all senders -- it was to enable it so it would work on demand when I want to download a message from a known trusted sender. That way I could download MMS content when on WiFi as well as when I'm on network.
