Tranfer Photos to GrapheneOS without wiping time EXIF?

I am trying to transfer photos that I have on my desktop onto my GrapheneOS Pixel while retaining date created EXIF so that they aren't all jumbled. This seems to be a limitation of MTP, though.

rsync -a isn't supported going TO the phone via mtp, only FROM.
cp --preserve=all says preserving times is unsupported.
Dragging/dropping the files on desktop to the phone erases the EXIF data.
adb push doesn't seem to be supported by GrapheneOS.

Any solutions?

First of all, cp doesn't strip any EXIF data, the EXIF timestamps are stored in the file itself. I assume you mean the file system timestamps.
I don't use MTP but one idea I thought of is: create a zip/tar archive of the pictures you want to transfer, transfer using cp and then unzip on your phone.
I'm pretty sure this will preserve the filesystem timestamps.
Alternatively, you can correct the filesystem timestamps after the transfer by setting them to the EXIF timestamps using ExifTool.

I don't know of this well do exactly what you want, but you may want to try syncthing. This will sync the files on your devices. If you don'tt to keep them in sync then must stop sharing.
