New GOS user with a tiny, near-insignificant problem!

Hi - I just flashed a brand new Pixel 6a with Graphene and like what I see for the most part. Need to get used to the black and white system icons but other than that no real problems. The web-based flash instructions were great and installation was easy. I've installed the sandboxed GPS, Play Store etc. As I have done this I now have a notification on my lock screen " Gms Compat" that appears all the time. That, of course, is just an announcement to tell me that "Sandboxed Google Play is running". Is there any way to permanently get rid of that notification? I've checked settings etc but can't seem to find the answer. I'm probably blind but thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance for any help!

It's a great piece of work, this OS!! Think I'm going to stick with it and donate for sure.

Go to Settings > Apps > GmsCompatConfig > Notifications and turn the toggle off

Already did that and I still get that notification on my lock screen.

Or if you still have the notification you can always long press the notification and press 'turn off notifications'

Thanks! That 2nd suggestion worked. Also had to tap apply - now obvious.

brookie229 Hey there. Revert what you've done so far so that I can confirm you're at the default state.

Pull down the notification panel
Long press on the "Sandboxed Google Play is running" notificaton.
Tap "Turn off notifications" on the bottom left.
Toggle off "Sandboxed Google Play is running" from the menu
Tap "Apply" on the bottom right.

Need to get used to the black and white system icons

Long press on the home screen
Select "Wallpaper and Style"
Enable "Themed Icons"

Does this work with dark mode enabled? I enabled themed icons but cannot see any difference on those icons.

wojon Yes. it sure does. Keep in mind that the app has to support it for the icons to be changed. All the apps that come with GrapheneOS have themed icon support, at the moment.

Some other apps that you have installed may not.

Also, please keep in mind that it's only for the home screen, not the app drawer. That's how it's intended by upstream.

matchboxbananasynergy Thanks for clearing that up. I misunderstood and was under the impression it will be applied to the icons in the app drawer.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked "Themed Icons" before and that does screw up several app icons that I have including Etar (calendar app) and FairEmail so I'll just get used to the b&w for now. Much appreciated though! Nice helpful (and FAST) help here on this forum.
