Android auto + spotify issues since last update

Hi everyone,

first of all android auto and spotify worked flawlessly but for 2-3 weeks (estimate) I'm having issues with spotify in android auto. The issue is that I can open spotify on my car screen but the tile that shows the currently running song stopped working. The screen only shows the spotify logo in the top left and a play button but no forward, backward, play mode button, title progression bar and 3 dotted option field are displayed. If that is the case I can't control spotify with my car multimedia buttons. I can only temporarily fix this when I'm deleting app data of android auto (only deleting cache doesn't help), then everything works until next day when I turn on my phone. Already uninstalled AA and reisntalled but still same issue.

AA is installed with graphene appstore as recomended
all permissions in sandboxed apps are granted

I'm having the same issue: the currently-playing window is largely empty, with just the Jam and Queue but tons functional. I'm no longer able to change song via the car steering buttons, either.

Tested on three different cars with wired and wireless Android Auto.

Phone: Pixel 7
OS: GrapheneOS 2025100901
Spotify 9.0.88.1405
Android Auto 15.4.654014-release

Let me know if I can do anything useful to debug.

For what it's worth, I stopped using GrapheneOS on my Pixel 9 because of this and my new Samsung S25 Ultra has the exact same issue.

LiveByTheCode motorola also does not work reliably, so i dont think it is related to graphene

Not a solution but in my search for a solution I stumbled across this: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/issues/6355

For those with the problem, it may be worth subscribing to the issue to track changes and possible work arounds from the dev team. Labeled upstream bug so I assume that's something in ASOP or Spotify. Since others are also having issues with a Motorola and Samsung devices, I'm leaning more towards Spotify.

This post on Spotify's community page suggests it's their App. Spotify was responding to users and then went silent. Typical strategy when the problem is found but there's no solution.
