Hi I just wanted to ask when creating a new Gmail account there was a promt for phone number and then you got SMS text via a code, now I see QR code, what is it?

Curious When i tried to create a an account from PC it gave the qr code to link to mobile, instead pc now i use a new profile, without a vpn, using public wifi or mobile data, so it wont ask for a phone number too.

Like there was always that inputbox: your phone number:....
You put in phone number and then you got a SMS verification code that your are real person and not a bot.

Now I see on that place a request for scaning a QR code that will give you some sort of link with google url like starting:
accounts.google.com but it is new to my eyes I read something that they are rolling out of SMS verifiraction but I am not sure wha is it really. Seeing it for the first time.

That's not how you register a new account. That's used to confirm your sign-in to an existing account from a new device.
Probably this account or phone number already exists.

W1zardK1ng Yep I used different country and got an old option via classic number + SMS code.

Curious Instead PC use your mobile device, you can use a new user profile for that. then go to playstore and create account from there, once account is created setup a 2fa app, then you can logout of that user profile and delete it. Google is limiting the account creation using browsers.

Looks like G@@gle has enforced some changes recently.

Almost two months ago, I created two throwaway accounts, and at that time, I wasn't able to avoid cell numbers, so I used temp ones.
Then, from the personal profile, I removed the cell number of one of these accounts.

Two days ago, I tried to use (log in with) these accounts, and the one with a cell number G@@gle asked me for verification. No way to bypass it. Of course, I already lost access to it.

The second one, which I managed to remove the cell number from, can't be used either. G@@gle asked me to add such to continue.

Oggyo Whenever I sign in to my personal account on desktop (sometimes on mobile) and finish inputting my 2fa from my authenticator app, I always get a dialogue that says "Make sure you can sign in" with two input boxes: 1) Add a recovery phone and 2) Add a recovery email. There is a cancel button that, when clicked, shows another dialogue that says "Set a home address" with an input box and this one has a Skip button that, when clicked, you are finally signed in and can continue my business. Not sure if you are experiencing this or a different dialogue asking for your phone number.

Maybe because I haven't used these accounts daily since they were created.

My current (in use) throwaway account I created 2 years ago still works in Aurora. But I haven't logged out/in. And it has only (throwaway) email as recovery. I suspect once I need to log in with it again, I'll get the prompts you are getting. :)
