Google bricked my play account, and won't let me sign in another account.

Hey, google locked my account, even when i use my right password and authentication etc.
resulting in bricked play store in owner profile.
(funny thing I'm able to reset my password, but not login... could give them my phone number but that's not a good option tbh)
(app re installs wont let me use other accounts)

I don't know what triggered it, new ip/location i guess.

Do anyone know a reliable way to reset owner profile ids, if that's what playstore is using to give me denial of service?

Thanks for this great project, it just seems to get more and more important for every day that passes

leaf I'm not sure what you mean by bricked Google account.
Could you please share which message is displayed when you try to sign in?

And you can remove the Google account by going to Settings app > Passwords passkeys & accounts > Accounts > [Google account email address] > Remove account. Have you tried that?

leaf I had the same thing happen last week.

I installed GOS & subsequently created a new Google account via Sandboxed Play Store. Then I logged into the account with my laptop/browser & setup the 2FA app option, AND the account recovery codes. Afterwards, I installed a few apps & began working on setting up my Pixel.

Unfortunately, at some point over the next day, Google's vile ass logged me out of the Sandboxed Play Store; disingenuously claiming "Authentication is required. You need to sign in to your Google Account" 🙄 So, I hit "Sign in", proved I wasn't a robot, entered my password, & then provided the required 2FA code. However, Google refused to log me in, & instead demanded I provide a phone number for verification! So then I tried using one of my Recovery Codes, but once again, Google refused to log me in! I even tried logging in on my browser, of course to no avail.

Anyways, as it stands I can't log in to my account unless I provide Google's INIQUITOUS "service" a real phone number (they rejects VoIP #'s). I'm not surprised by this really, but the brazen gaslighting does sort of blow my mind. Claiming they need verification while I've literally provided multiple other forms of verification is pretty unscrupulous! What's even more retarded is that providing a phone number at this point verifies nothing considering I never gave a number to begin with! But hey, this type of insidious behavior is why we're all here ditching Google's dismal "service"!

When i cleared data from both play services and play store app. and restarted them first i would get: checking device, and then it would list my account and a "verify its your account" step that only ended with a input phone number field, same on the website. And nothing else on the app itself thus a brick.

If its asking to send pin to your phone number did you originally use one to set the account up or is it just asking for a phone number to add to the account? If the prior they already have it so use it. If the latter then use a temp number online.

You should be able to setup a brand new google account online and then log in with that.

BTW did you have 2FA setup with a TOTP auth setup? I have never seen an account locked out with that setup as long as it was not locked out by incorrect pwd limits. I have had hundreds of g-accounts over the decades and used the g-auth/ totp since it was offered. Logged in over vpns etc never an issue with exits all over the world

They just asked for a phone number, couldn't find a temp number that wasn't blocked.
i had 2fa + backup codes.

i used the backup codes to reset the password once, still stuck at number.
even added a email to receive a recovery code that i had to wait 1 or 2 days to get, same.

tried logging in now, first try got me endless captcha, second try said someone tried to login my account try later popup.
third try asked for phone number.

"locked out by incorrect pwd limits" - could be possible, but that seems a bit rough, considering i still have recovery code + 2fa. but i dunno.

i don't know what triggered it though, also i cant make account on web without phone numbers maybe my browser or ip looks like bot traffic.

Have you worked around this yet? Just this summer I could create Google accounts without a number and now Its requiring one every time.

I have not, although after some searching I found a service (https://www.smspool.net/) where you can temporarily purchase non-VOIP phone numbers to receive 2FA texts.

It's ≈ $1 per number from what I've seen, but unfortunately they won't accept any of my credit cards so I can't comment too much about it. They use Stripe to process payments which requires your card to support 3DS authentication. Apparently my Capital One cards don't support this. I asked them if I could use a prepaid card & they said as long as it supports 3DS. I asked them how I can tell what cards support 3DS & their answer was to give them the last 4 digits of the card number so they could check?! 🙄 Obviously I'm not about to buy random prepaid cards just to find out it won't work. I tried to lookup how a person can determine if a card provider supports 3DS & couldn't find a real answer. Thus I've given up on that service for the moment.

I figure worst case scenario I'll eventually purchase the cheapest prepaid phone I can solely for receiving Google's bullshit text, & after I've created the Google account I'll delete that number from it & never use that device/number again. I'm not in too much of a rush to solve this though because I'm still using my "normal" phone for Google Play required apps, & using my GOS phone (w/o a SIM) for Signal/Proton.

That's the definitely my long term goal!

It'd be so much easier if more apps were built like Signal. Signal having the APK file right on their website is a bonus, but not requiring Play Services for notifications as well as the app itself informing you when an update is available is just such an obvious feature it blows my mind that so few others have done it. I don't even care if I have to manually update them, it's just nice not needing to setup other apps/services to monitor for updates when the app itself should be able to inform you.

BTW, ive now moved away from signal & molly to SimpleX

The project offers more privacy and security than molly, no mobile number is required, I have instant notifications(which never worked with signal/molly), less battery drainage, and the meta data shared is a lot less.

Signal were asked for years to drop phone number requirements, which they ignored, therefore better app is due to replace it.
