How to disable the phone/sms, and just use VoIP?

I have a plan that is pretty basic and the company i like well enough (they don't ask questions and prices are good) BUT they don't seem to have the option of onlydata* which might be a good thing in an extreme emergency however to date I have not needed the phone/sms and want to turn them off or block any incoming calls/sms coming via voice/sms (NOT including VoIP, I still want to get voip messages and calls). I thought this would be fairly simple but as far as i can tell its not. I've had issues with voip across other profiles (can refer to my other posts) but I get sms and phone spam across my profiles which for me is maddening.

Is there a way to disable/block incoming sms/voice at the phone/software level?

Use LTE only or 5G/LTE mode and don't register or even disable IMS system service. Both calls and SMS in that mode require IMS to operate. But you don't reduce any attack surface here, you can simply configure a phone app to block callers not in your address book. Also for SMS but with a custom app.

23Sha-ger Thanks but wouldn't usign only LTE or 5g/LTE leave me not being able to use data as well? (which is kind important if one wants to use voip). In this particular case I am not thinking in terms of attack surface in this instance.

mildlyparanoid The opposite, without IMS it will leave you only with data. That's an issue many users have before the Force IMS toggles update last month, but for you it seems like a preferred setup.

What works with my carrier, once you register your address for E911 and get set up for VoIP, is this:
a. Ensure you have LTE or 5g connection.
b. Turn on 'airplane mode'.
c. Connect your phone to your WAP.
If your carrier is like mine, you now have VoIP and messaging connectivity without using cellular data, all of it goes over wireless to your inet connection.
