Hi,
I have been using GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8 for several months without any issue and I was very satisfied until today
I'm someone who often forgets to charge my phone. Today like almost every day, my battery died and I guess the phone had yet another deep discharge
I charged the phone with a reliable fast charger and cable (tested on another phone) but it got stucked - as often, in a boot loop because the boot drains the battery faster than it charges. It's a common issue it seems, even with a good charger.
Anyway... Seeing that the phone was stucked once again in a boot loop after a deep discharge, I waited for the hash check screen / "your phone is running a different OS" screen to pop-up, and then I paused the boot process there, and waited a few minutes. I learned over time that it does the trick. After a few minutes I resumed the boot. Then the phone freezed on the unlocking screen. I thought "Ok that's weird, usually it works, but well... maybe I need to charge it longer"
Turned off. On again. Paused the booting process once again. This time I waited for one hour. To be sure the battery is really charged and the phone won't crash.
After that, I resumed the boot and the phone did boot (google and graphene OS splash screen, etc). I do reach the android unlock screen, and it is not frozen. The battery is shown fully charged. I can swipe up to unlock the owner profile and it works. If I'm really fast I can enter my pin and unlock the phone, that also works. But then that's about it; the phone immediately crashes as it starts loading the owner profile.
It's not really the swiping or the unlocking that causes the bug. In fact if I'm fast enough I can enter my code, and it does unlock the phone - but only for one second and then it crashes.
I guess it's just some more or less critical component that is loaded at startup, it crashes, and the phone dies. Maybe one of the repeated reboot put it in a bad state and now it's game over ?
If I don't do anything (i.e just wait on the unlock screen) the phone also dies after two or three seconds. If I try to turn off the screen with the power buton right after the unlock screen, the phone also dies after two or three seconds. It looks like it's not so much depending on what I do, but more dependent on how much time I wait (a few seconds at most)
Now I'm a little bit annoyed because the phone is practically impossible to use
USB debugging is not activated. I ahd set up the USB to be charging-only, and disabled data transfer
What option do I have left ?
