Dear forum

I have 2 questions concerning your view about eOS and pure OS.

I am concerned about privacy issues but i dont know much about how to technically realize this. I have a pixel 4a flashed with e OS. Now I begin to understand that the technical considerations of eg graphene OS are more thougtful... As for example it dispenses with micro G and uses sandboxes to run apps...I now am searching a short orientation about what you think or what 2 vor 3 you think

In your view:

1) Is eOS more private than an ordinary Android-OS (given that apps are carefully chosen?) @

2) Is it useful to use a sandboxing APP and which one?

3) when time has come to buy a new advice i want to choose between graphene OS and pure OS ( librem 5). My question: is it right that graphene OS dies allow to usw proprietary apps while pure OS doesnt?

All user-installed apps on GrapheneOS can only run in the regular Android app sandbox. GrapheneOS has improved sandboxing: https://grapheneos.org/features#improved-sandboxing

You don't need to install anything extra or do anything for the sandboxing to work.

You can install and use proprietary Android apps on GrapheneOS. Most apps will work fine even without disabling any hardening / exploit protection toggles. Some apps won't work because they are incompatible with newer versions of Android, but as such they would likely also not work on Google's Pixel OS either. Of course, you don't have to use Sandboxed Google Play if you don't want to.

I've no idea about PureOS.

thank you so much for your immediate and sensible/ differentated answer! It gives me a good orientation about graphene OS.

Next time i will choose graphene because its more convincing than "e OS" and probably more compatible than "pure OS"

My question concerning the sandboxing APP however was related to "e OS" which is also a androidbased degoogled distro. At the Moment i still work with this but am insure if there are not too many backdoors....

For example it doesnt have such a process-isolating structure like graphene OS. My question is if it makes sense to install a sandboxing app at e OS and which one you would recommend?

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "sandboxing app". Are you asking how you can sandbox Play services on eOS? I don't know anything about eOS usage, so I can't really answer that.
