I use an the MPE app (on phone) and the MPE program (on pc) to sync my contacts and calendar to Outlook 2010. And Unbeknownst to me, my contacts have never been syncing since I got the phone, 19 months ago...bah!. Because bluetooth sync wasn't working and syncing via Wifi/Usb weren’t an option.
Fast forward to yesterday and then this evening, where I'm trying to figure out WTF when I do a sync via MPE I wasn't seeing contacts transferring between the phone and Outlook, because MPE wasn’t throwing an error and as far as it was concerned the contacts were syncing - but the question was WERE...???
So then I remembered as I had installed a different contacts app, I had 'disabled' the built in GoS contacts app (this fact is crucial), in disabling that app it had also stopped the local contacts account 'it used' from being used my any other application.... So at a guess GoS doesn't some slightly different than stock android in this instance, as I did the same thing on my old S20 and didn’t have this issue afaik.
Needless to say that was a proper mind fcuk, until the realisation clicked in my noggin of what I had done. So this time I re-enabled said stock contacts app but instead hid it in the launcher (in my case, Nova launcher) and bam now any changes I make to any contacts in outlook or on the phone now bloody sync...!!!
And a side note, the dev of MPE, makes a small app called 'MyLocalAccount' (play store or his support forum) which creates another contacts/calendar sync account/adapter, that I could have used had I not remembered the above disabling shenanigans 🙂
I thought I would this fix on the off chance someone runs into the same issue.
