Yes, if u implement a vpn on your router. It might be wifi-calling might only be permitted from your carrier if the ip originates from your country. In my case that's the case.
I'm using this exact setup, it is already mentioned, but at the same time i think u knew as it is kinda obvious, your calls are still routed through your carrier so nothing to gain there. As mentioned aswell, i believe WiFi-calling adds some extra attack surface. One example is that some carriers use a set of static 'private' keys for their IPsec tunnels instead of random keys, and everybody knowing these keys could theoretically eavesdrop on your conversations.
So some tradeoffs to chose to use such an implementation. In my case my regular calls are, sure private, but not confidential. I have prefered not to connect to cellular towers.
If u don't want to connect to cell towers (consequently avoiding triangulation), and don't want to connect to your carrier with your home ip to make use of WiFI-calling, mentioned implementation will work for that specific purpose.
