I recently got my pixel and installed gos and I chose the simplest way which was NOT to use different profiles while I learn
I did create a user profile but I left it blank and no apps and decided to use the owner for all apps but now I'm having second thoughts if I should have kept owner blank and just put all the apps inc Google play apps in my user profile instead and kept owner blank of apps?
That's easy to.change now since i have not used it really much at all yet so I'd rather change it to profile if that's better. Let me know if you think this should be changed before I start using it properly
Amazing software. Props to all the developers and team!
My main reason is I would like to be more secure but also send as little data and tracking as practical to the big companies
But would you tell me if I have done anything that could be improved since it's better to do any "simple" changes now than later
I have all in the owner profile. I did download/activate the sandboxed Google play store and play services and downloaded my apps that I use (most don't seem to require Google play but some rarely used ones do)
Should I deactivate Google play services each time I'm not using the apps that require it or just leave it)
Is there any privacy advantage to disabling play services since it doesn't "appear" to be required to run any of my apps?
I definitely feel this one profile is the easiest to learn, especially since even learning the pixel coming from other brand, is a curve due to habit of how to use but I can't help but think have I really made it any more private and secure sunce its all lumped in one profile with google play even if sandboxed?
It just almost feels like using old phone I'm used to (which is great as long as I'm heading in the right direction of more privacy)
What exactly does the sandbox Google play do/help? I have read the faq.. can the apps still talk to google play since it's sandbox and play can get usage data from them or not?
Essentially what have I achieved
Essentially, I wish to know am I any more secure/private than before with my old brand stock android but now using all the same apps with sandboxed Google play all on my owner profile
Or should I change something?
Should I change network or sensor access or anything on mods apps to limit data sent?
I downloaded Spotify since I'm so used to it. I heard it's not a great privacy option lol. Is there anything very similar that's privacy focused OR how can I limit the amount of data or tracking to them while using gos?
Also, is there any way of getting 5 years of my old samsung calendar details transferred to new pixel? So much (non private) info I'd like to keep without re writing years worth one by one into pixel
Thanks
