Allow phone number verification like recent RCS?

I see that a change was recently made to allow RCS to access the device's phone number.
Would it be possible for the GrapheneOS team to apply that change for Google's Find Hub as well?
When I try to verify my phone number using the "Find My" service, I get this error:
Couldn't verify phone number.
I'd like to be able to use remote lock (and the other services).

You can't because all Google's apps are not privileged on GOS, so they don't have any permission to do anything remotely like wipe etc. Find my should work fine by itself if you give it location access, it's just a simple location app
that uploads location to Google.
Remote lock is useless anyway, because GOS is not forcing FRP like stock does, so if you lose the device it's possible
to just hard reset it and flash stock.

I'd be pretty stoked to see the Find My app get a little love. I have a handful of trackers I've been waiting to pair as I don't have a non-graphene phone to pair them to my account with (heard that was a interim solution).

Settings -> Apps -> Sandboxed Google Play -> Play services special permissions to allow Play services to perform ICC authentication with the SIM.

Find My was able to verify my SIM and eSIM. A remote lock was then possible.

edent Confirmed: works for me too on Verizon. GMS also needs the SMS permission. Actually activating remote lock crashes GMS (there's already an issue open about it on the github tracker), but it does work.

Edited to add: Find Hub might also need device admin. I'm not sure about this, though, since I'd already granted it to enable remote locking/wiping from Find Hub (which is different from remote lock via just the phone number at android.com/lock). Find Hub is an older approach that requires logging in with your Google account but can do more: play a sound, execute remote wipe, locate the phone if GMS has location permissions).

This worked for me today after RCS stopped working several months ago. I figured it was something where Graphene or Google would catch up with each other and it would start working again as it had for me in the past, but finally decided to start digging into it today. I have Spectrum mobile (they use Verizon towers) and as soon as I turned this on and restarted the phone, I was connected to RCS.
