New to GOS

Just started looking into the GOS and would like to get away from the Google infrastructure, i have no social media and am going through my apps on my Samsung and getting rid of some as we speak, but i know this don't help still being logged into a Google account, so I'm considering buying a pixel to go full GOS, Currently wondering abouts the longevity of the pixel 8 on GOS In comparison to say a pixel 9..... or would you just pay the extra and go for the pixel 9? Also I'm reading about the changes to the Google os that could affect GOS and apps on F Droid...... is this something i should worry about. Thanks for the advice

Hello, I switched from IOS (iPhone 13) to GOS on a Pixel 8a a ... few days ago.

As you can see the Pixel 8 will be supported for the next 4 years and 11 months, whereas the Pixel 9 will be supported for 5 years and 9 months.
